고양특례시가 북한산에서 발원해 도심을 거쳐 한강으로 이어지는 창릉천을 중심으로 자연과 사람, 역사와 문화가 공존하는 명품 수변도시 조성에 본격 나선다.

고양시는 창릉천 전 구간 18.42km와 한강을 하나의 수변축으로 연결하는 '고양 블루웨이' 조성 사업의 기본 구상을 마련하고 사업 추진에 속도를 낸다고 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 단순한 하천 정비를 넘어 시민들의 휴식과 여가를 책임지는 친수공간을 조성하고, 도시 경쟁력과 브랜드 가치를 높이는 대규모 프로젝트로 추진된다.

시는 창릉천의 자연환경과 지역 특성을 반영해 상류·중류·하류를 각각 차별화된 테마 공간으로 조성하고, 전 구간을 단절 없이 연결하는 보행 네트워크를 구축할 계획이다.

북한산 발원지부터 지축지구까지 이어지는 상류부는 생태환경 보존을 최우선으로 하는 친환경 힐링 공간으로 조성된다. 

인위적인 시설 설치를 최소화하고 기존 숲길과 산책로를 유기적으로 연결해 자연 그대로의 생태 가치를 살린다는 구상이다.

지축·삼송·원흥지구와 창릉신도시를 포함하는 중류부는 시민들이 일상에서 즐길 수 있는 생활·문화 거점으로 탈바꿈한다. 

수변광장과 전망데크, 문화마당 등을 조성하고 한국토지주택공사(LH)와 협력해 다양한 문화행사와 휴식이 가능한 수변 플랫폼을 구축할 예정이다.

창릉천 하류인 화도교에서 행주산성, 한강으로 이어지는 구간은 역사와 생태가 공존하는 명품 수변 공간으로 꾸며진다.

강매석교공원과 행주산성을 연결하는 산책로를 새롭게 조성하고, 고양대덕생태공원으로 이어지는 보행교를 설치하는 한편, 누구나 편리하게 이용할 수 있는 무장애 데크길도 마련할 계획이다.

창릉천과 한강이 만나는 하류부 6.4km 구간도 대대적인 변화를 맞는다.
