고양특례시가 지역 내 공정무역 활성화와 균형 있는 정책 추진을 위해 공정무역위원회 위촉직 민간위원 9명을 공개 모집한다고 13일 밝혔다.

고양시 공정무역위원회는 시의 공정무역 정책 방향을 설정하고 주요 사업과 지원 정책에 대한 심의·자문을 담당하는 기구로, 공정무역 활성화를 위한 정책의 전문성과 실효성을 높이는 역할을 수행한다.

이번 공개모집은 7월 13일부터 27일까지 2주간 진행되며, 공정무역에 관심이 있고 관련 분야의 전문성을 갖춘 시민과 전문가라면 누구나 신청할 수 있다.

신청을 희망하는 시민은 고양시청 누리집 고시·공고 게시판에서 신청 서식을 내려받아 작성한 뒤 방문, 우편 또는 전자우편을 통해 접수하면 된다.

최종 선정된 민간위원은 위촉일로부터 2년간 활동하며 공정무역 주요 사업의 수립과 평가, 공정무역 지원단체 선정 및 예산 지원, 홍보·교육·훈련 등 공정무역 활성화 사업 전반에 대한 심의와 자문을 맡게 된다. 

이 밖에도 공정무역 사업 추진을 위해 시장이 필요하다고 인정하는 사항에 대해서도 의견을 제시하게 된다.

고양시는 이번 위원회 구성을 통해 다양한 분야의 전문가와 시민들의 의견을 정책에 반영하고, 지역사회 전반에 공정무역 가치를 확산하는 기반을 마련한다는 계획이다.

고양시 관계자는 "공정무역위원회는 고양시 공정무역 정책의 방향을 함께 만들어가는 중요한 소통 창구"라며 "위원회 구성을 계기로 공정무역에 대한 시민 공감대를 넓히고 관련 사업이 더욱 활성화될 수 있도록 행정적 지원을 지속해 나가겠다"고 말했다.
