의정부시의회 김현채 운영위원장(국민의힘, 비례)이 지방의회 의정활동의 최고 영예로 꼽히는 '제5회 대한민국 위민의정대상'을 수상했다.

지난달 28일 여의도 국회도서관 소강당에서 열린 시상식에서 김 위원장은 조례 제·개정 부문 우수상과 행정안전위원장상을 동시에 받는 영광을 안았다.

대한민국 위민의정대상은 행정안전부소관 민관소통위원회와 지방자치연구소가 주최하고, 지방자치 4대협의체가 후원하는 권위 있는 상이다. 

특히 4년마다 수여되는 만큼 그 의미가 더욱 크다.

전국 광역 및 기초의원을 대상으로 서류심사, 발표, 현장검증 등 4차에 걸친 엄정한 심사를 거쳐 지방자치 발전에 기여한 의원들을 선정한다.

김 위원장은 「의정부시 경계선 지능인 평생교육 지원에 관한 조례안」과 「의정부시 보행안전지도사 육성 및 지원에 관한 조례안」 등 혁신적인 조례를 제정하고, 어린이집 환경 개선 등 다방면에서 주민 맞춤형 의정활동을 펼친 공로를 인정받았다.

김 위원장은 "대한민국 위민의정대상은 4년마다 주는 상이라 의미가 크다"며 "앞으로도 의정부 시민들이 안전하고 따뜻한 삶을 살 수 있도록 시민의 입장에서 시민과 함께 가장 낮은 자세로 의정활동을 이어가겠다"고 수상 소감을 밝혔다.

Kim Hyun-chae, Chairperson of the Uijeongbu City Council Steering Committee (People Power Party, proportional representation), has received the "5th Korea Women's Legislative Award," the highest honor for local council activities.

At the awards ceremony held at the National Assembly Library auditorium in Yeouido on the 28th of last month, Chairperson Kim was honored with both the Excellence Award in the Ordinance Enactment/Amendment category and the Public Administration and Security Committee Chairperson's Award.

The Korea Women's Legislative Award is a prestigious award hosted by the Public-Private Communication Committee under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Local Autonomy Research Institute, and sponsored by the four major local autonomy councils.

It is especially meaningful because it is awarded every four years.

The award selects council members who have contributed to the advancement of local autonomy through a rigorous four-stage screening process, including document screening, presentations, and on-site verification.

Chairperson Kim was recognized for her contributions to legislative activities tailored to residents, including enacting innovative ordinances such as the "Uijeongbu City Ordinance on Support for Lifelong Education for Individuals with Borderline Intelligence" and the "Uijeongbu City Ordinance on Training and Support for Pedestrian Safety Instructors," and for improving the environment of daycare centers.

Chairperson Kim stated, "The Republic of Korea Women's Legislative Award is significant because it is given every four years. I will continue to work with the citizens of Uijeongbu, humbly striving to ensure they live safe and warm lives."
