제13회 '자랑스런한국인 인물대상' 및 '세계명품브랜드대상' 시상식이 지난 11월 1일 서울 여의도 국회의원회관 제1소회의실에서 성황리에 개최됐다. 

국가 발전과 글로벌 경쟁력 제고에 기여한 인물과 브랜드를 조명하는 이번 행사에는 정치·경제·문화 등 각계 주요 인사와 수상자들이 대거 참석해 한국 사회의 미래 가치를 이끌어가는 주역들을 격려했다.

정운찬 전 국무총리가 대회장을 맡고 박수현 더불어민주당 수석대변인이 축사를 전한 이날 시상식은 가수 장미화의 '안녕하세요'와 조항조의 '고맙소' 축하공연으로 분위기를 한층 고조시켰다. 

자랑스런한국인 인물대상 조직위원회, 세계명품브랜드대상 조직위원회, 한국기자연합회가 공동 주최하고 백종현 국회의원실과 월간 '자랑스런 한국인', 한국기자연합회 연합취재본부가 주관한 이번 행사는 다수의 공공기관과 민간단체의 후원으로 공공성과 사회적 의미를 더했다.

이번 시상식에서 '열두장구·북 아카데미'를 이끄는 조경희 대표가 '자랑스런한국인 대상'을 수상하며 주목을 받았다.

조 대표는 국악기 기반 퍼포먼스를 대중 공연과 교육 프로그램으로 확장하며 전통예술의 접근성을 높여온 공로를 인정받았다.

특히 장구와 북을 활용한 창의적 무대 구성, 지역 중심 동아리 육성, 전문 강사 배출, 다양한 계층을 위한 국악 교육 프로그램 개발 등 폭넓은 영역에서 활동하며 국악 보급의 현장 기반을 마련했다는 평가를 받았다.

조 대표의 활동은 교육과 사회공헌 분야에서도 두드러진다. 

장애인 대상 타악기 수업, 시각장애인 협회와의 지속적 교육 협력, 정신적·정서적 어려움을 겪는 이들을 위한 장구 치유 프로그램 운영 등 사회적 약자를 위한 문화예술 교육의 폭을 꾸준히 넓혀왔다.

조 대표가 운영하는 '열두장구·북 아카데미'는 공연·이벤트 전문단체로서 '세계명품브랜드대상'도 함께 수상하는 영예를 안았다. 

아카데미는 전통 장단을 현대적 감각으로 재구성한 공연 콘텐츠를 꾸준히 선보이며, 청소년·장년층·장애인 대상 맞춤형 교육 프로그램을 운영해 지역사회 문화예술 발전에 기여해왔다.

특히 퍼포먼스에서의 차별화된 구성과 부채 퍼포먼스 등 새로운 연출을 접목하며 국악 기반 공연예술의 새로운 방향성을 제시하고 있다는 평가를 받았다.

열두장구·북 아카데미는 앞으로 서울권 활동 기회 확대, 해외 활동 기반 확보, 지역과 연계한 국악 콘텐츠 개발 등 다양한 계획을 추진할 예정이다. 

조 대표는 "제자들과 함께 무대를 넓혀 국악의 가치를 국내를 넘어 세계 무대에도 알리고 싶다"며 향후 목표를 밝혔다.
