고양특례시는 지난 11일 장항습지 내 농경지에서 철새 먹이주기 행사를 가졌다.

이번 행사는 장항습지가 람사르 습지로 지정된 후 습지 안에서 이루어진 첫 행사로, 농민·어민·봉사자의 자발적인 참여로 진행됐다.

이날 철새 먹이로 행주어촌계 어민들이 한강에서 잡은 블루길 등 생태계 교란종, 누치 등 무용어종을 포함한 물고기 500kg과 습지보호지역에서 재배한 볍씨 1,000kg이 사용됐다.

본 행사 전에는 겨울에 철새들이 건강하게 다시 돌아오기를 기원하는 의미로, 진혼무 국가무형문화재 57호 이수자인 최정희 님거문고 산조(춤) 공연이 펼쳐졌다.

장항습지는 멸종위기종인 재두루미와 큰기러기 등 3만 마리 이상의 철새가 서식하는 곳으로 시는 부족한 먹이를 위해 생태계서비스지불제로 구입한 볍씨와 국세청 압수 곡물 등을 기부받아 겨울동안 약 23톤을 먹이로 살포했다.

작년 12월부터 현재까지 일주일에 두 번씩 진행한 장항습지의 철새 등 야생동물을 위한‘장항습지 철새 드론 급식 봉사대’의 활동은 많은 시민들의 호응을 얻었다.
