고양특례시는 오는 18일 국내의 세계유산 전문가 4인을 초청해 국가유산이자 시의 대표유산인 ‘북한산성’의 유네스코 세계유산 등재를 위한  시민강좌를 진행한다고 밝혔다. 

시는 서울시의 한양도성, 탕춘대성 과 함께 ‘한양의 수도성곽’이라는 명칭으로 고양시 북한산성의 세계유산 등재를 추진 중이다. 

2024년에는 ‘세계유산 예비평가(Preliminary Assessment)’에서 긍정적 결과를 통보 받아 등재 가능성이 더욱 높아졌다.

올해 국내 등재신청 대상 심사를 앞두고, ‘한양의 수도성곽’이라는 세계유산의 가치와 등재 과정을 총 4번의 강의를 통해 풀어갈 예정이다.

오는 18일에  고양시 백석업무빌딩 회의실에서 열리는 첫 번째 시민강좌는 국제기념물유적협의회(ICOMOS) 한국위원회 위원장인 최재헌 교수의 ‘유네스코 세계유산 바로알기’라는 주제로 진행될 예정이다. 

이후에는 서울시립대학교 김영수 교수, 경기문화재단 박현욱 선임연구원, 서울시청 김명옥 주무관이 매주 월요일마다 다채로운 주제로 강연을 펼칠 예정이다. 

시는 이번 강좌를 통해 세계유산 등재에 대한 시민들의 이해도를 높이고 ‘북한산성 시민 서포터즈’와 같은 자발적인 모니터링 활동을 지속적으로 지원할 계획이다.

Goyang City to Hold Citizen Lecture for ‘Bukhansanseong’ World Heritage Site Registration

Goyang Special City announced that it will invite four domestic World Heritage Site experts to hold a citizen lecture for the UNESCO World Heritage Site registration of ‘Bukhansanseong,’ a national heritage and the city’s representative heritage, on the 18th.

The city is promoting the World Heritage Site registration of Bukhansanseong in Goyang City along with Seoul’s Hanyangdoseong and Tangchundaeseong under the name of ‘Hanyang’s Capital City Wall.’

In 2024, the possibility of registration has increased further as a positive result was notified in the ‘World Heritage Preliminary Assessment.’

Ahead of the domestic registration application screening this year, the value of ‘Hanyang’s Capital City Wall’ as a World Heritage site and the registration process will be explained through a total of four lectures.

The first citizen lecture to be held on the 18th in the conference room of the Baekseok Business Building in Goyang City will be given by Professor Choi Jae-heon, the Chairman of the Korean Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), under the theme of ‘Understanding UNESCO World Heritage’.

After that, Professor Kim Young-soo of Seoul City University, Senior Researcher Park Hyeon-wook of Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, and Kim Myeong-ok, a senior official at Seoul City Hall, will give lectures on various topics every Monday.

Through this lecture, the city plans to increase citizens’ understanding of the World Heritage listing and continuously support voluntary monitoring activities such as the ‘Bukhansanseong Citizen Supporters’.
