그동안 탐정업 규제 법률인 신용정보법(제40조 4항, 5항)의 탐정업 금지조항이 20년 2월 4일개정됨(2020.8.5시행)에 따라 한국탐정업 사업자 등록으로 자유서비스업이 가능하게 되었다.

 따라서 타 법률에 저촉되지 않는 범위에서 사생활과 무관한 탐정업무는 법률제정이나 개정 없이도 가능하게 됨에 따라 탐정업 직업에 대한 관심이 날로 높아지고 있다.
