파주시가 화재로 삶의 터전을 잃은 시민들의 신속한 일상 회복을 위해 한국토지주택공사(LH)와 손잡고 긴급 주거지원에 나섰다.

파주시는 10일 오전 한국토지주택공사(LH) 경기북부지역본부와 '와동동 아파트 화재 피해 주민의 주거 안정을 위한 긴급 주거지원 업무협약'을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 지난 7일 발생한 와동동 아파트 화재로 장기간 귀가가 어려워진 피해 주민들에게 안정적인 임시 거주 공간을 제공하기 위해 마련됐다.

특히 이번 협약은 손배찬 파주시장이 취임 이후 체결한 첫 번째 업무협약으로, 재난 상황에서 시민의 안전과 생활 안정을 최우선으로 하겠다는 시정 철학을 실천한 첫 행보라는 점에서 의미를 더한다.

협약에 따라 LH 경기북부지역본부는 행복주택 등 공공임대주택 22세대를 긴급 제공하고, 파주시는 피해 주민들의 월 임대료를 2개월간 전액 지원한다. 

현재 야당역 인근 임시주거시설인 '파크뷰테라스'에서 생활하고 있는 이재민들은 입주 준비가 완료되는 대로 이번 주 토요일부터 순차적으로 새로운 보금자리로 입주할 예정이다.

파주시는 입주 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 주민들의 불편을 최소화하기 위해 이사와 행정 절차 등 전반적인 지원도 함께 추진할 계획이다.

시는 화재 발생 직후부터 신속한 구호 체계를 가동해 임시주거시설을 마련하고 응급구호세트와 식료품을 지급하는 등 긴급 지원을 실시해 왔다. 

이후 피해 주민들의 장기적인 주거 안정을 위해 LH와 긴밀한 협의를 이어온 결과, 단기간 내 공공임대주택을 확보하며 실질적인 주거 지원책을 마련했다.

이날 협약식에는 손배찬 파주시장과 김전태 LH 경기북부지역본부 처장이 참석해 피해 주민들의 조속한 생활 안정과 일상 회복을 위해 지속적으로 협력해 나가기로 뜻을 모았다.
