고양시향동종합사회복지관이 주민들이 주도적으로 참여하는 마을 돌봄체계 구축에 나서며 지역사회 돌봄 문화 확산의 첫걸음을 내디뎠다.

고양시향동종합사회복지관은 지난 7일 향동 LH1단지 주민들과 함께하는 '돌봄의 샘터(in 향동)' 사업의 첫 공식 일정인 오리엔테이션을 개최하고 본격적인 사업 운영에 들어갔다고 밝혔다.

'돌봄의 샘터(in 향동)'는 주민 간의 관계망을 기반으로 단지 내 '돌봄리더'를 발굴·육성해 이들이 중심이 되어 홀로 생활하거나 도움이 필요한 이웃의 안부를 살피고 필요한 지원을 연계하는 주민 참여형 돌봄 사업이다.

이번 사업은 고양시사회복지협의회가 추진하는 '돌봄의 씨앗 프로젝트' 공모사업에 최종 선정되면서 7월부터 본격적으로 추진된다. 

복지관은 오리엔테이션을 시작으로 돌봄리더 역량 강화 교육과 정기적인 이웃 돌봄 활동을 단계적으로 진행할 계획이다.

이날 오리엔테이션에서는 기관 및 사업 소개를 비롯해 담당자와 참여 주민 간 상견례, 프로그램 운영 방향 공유, 참여 소감 나누기 등이 진행됐다. 

참석한 주민들은 이웃과 함께하는 따뜻한 공동체를 만들어 가겠다는 의지를 밝히며 적극적인 참여 의사를 전했다.

한 참여 주민은 "이사 온 지 얼마 되지 않아 아는 이웃이 거의 없었는데 이번 활동을 통해 이웃과 자연스럽게 교류하고 도움이 필요한 분들에게 작은 힘이 될 수 있었으면 좋겠다"고 말했다.

또 다른 주민은 "평소 혼자 지내거나 도움이 필요한 이웃들이 많다고 느껴왔는데 직접 돌봄 활동에 참여할 수 있는 기회가 생겨 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다"고 소감을 밝혔다.

양복선 관장은 "주민이 주체가 되어 서로를 살피고 돌보는 문화가 지역사회에 자연스럽게 자리 잡기를 기대한다"며 "고양시사회복지협의회와 함께하는 '돌봄의 씨앗 프로젝트'를 통해 주민들이 함께 성장하고 이웃 간 따뜻한 돌봄이 지속되는 마을공동체를 만들 수 있도록 복지관도 적극적인 지원을 아끼지 않겠다"고 말했다.
