파주시 교하동 지역사회보장협의체가 보행이 불편한 어르신들의 안전한 이동을 돕기 위해 보행보조기(실버카)를 지원하며 지역사회에 따뜻한 나눔을 실천했다.

교하동 지역사회보장협의체는 지난 10일 관내 거동이 불편한 어르신 40명에게 보행보조기(실버카)를 전달했다고 밝혔다.

이번 지원사업은 고령화로 인해 이동에 어려움을 겪는 어르신들이 증가하는 지역 현실을 반영해 추진된 ‘2026년 교하동 지역사회보장협의체 특화사업’의 일환이다. 

어르신들의 안전한 보행을 지원하고 외부 활동 참여를 확대해 삶의 질 향상에 기여하기 위해 마련됐다.

특히 이번 사업은 단순한 물품 지원에 그치지 않고 협의체 위원들이 직접 대상 가정을 방문해 실버카를 전달하며 의미를 더했다. 

위원들은 보행보조기의 올바른 사용 방법을 안내하고 건강 상태를 살피는 한편, 말벗이 되어 안부를 확인하는 등 정서적 돌봄까지 함께 제공했다.

김택철 위원장은 “보행이 힘든 어르신들께 실질적으로 필요한 물품을 지원할 수 있어 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다”며 “앞으로도 다양한 특화사업을 발굴해 지역사회를 위한 촘촘한 돌봄 활동을 지속적으로 펼쳐 나가겠다”고 말했다.

실버카를 지원받은 한 어르신은 “최근 지팡이에 의지해도 걷기가 힘들어 외출이 줄었는데, 보행기를 지원받아 걷다가 힘들면 앉아서 쉴 수 있게 됐다”며 “정말 큰 도움이 되고 감사하다”고 소감을 전했다.

권예자 교하동장은 “후원에 동참해 주신 모든 분들과 바쁜 일정에도 직접 현장을 찾아 어르신들을 살핀 협의체 위원들께 감사드린다”며 “앞으로도 지역사회와 함께 소외되는 이웃이 없는 따뜻한 교하동을 만드는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편 교하동 지역사회보장협의체는 보행보조기 지원사업 외에도 취약계층 반찬 지원, 독거 어르신 안부 확인, 복지 사각지대 발굴 및 자살 예방 사업 등 다양한 복지사업을 추진하며 지역사회 복지 안전망 구축에 힘쓰고 있다. 

또한 향후 어린이 지원사업과 취약계층 주거환경 개선사업 등 맞춤형 사회공헌 활동을 지속적으로 확대해 나갈 계획이다.
