파주 운정청소년센터가 (사)한국공정무역마을위원회로부터 '공정무역 실천기관' 1차 재인증을 받았다.

'공정무역 실천기관' 인증은 공정무역 제품 구매·활용과 교육·홍보 활동을 꾸준히 펼치는 기관·기업·학교·종교단체 등을 위원회가 심사해 부여하는 제도다.

센터는 2024년 5월 처음으로 해당 인증을 취득한 뒤 2년에 걸쳐 청소년과 지역사회를 상대로 공정무역 알리기에 힘써왔으며 기관 내 공정무역 제품 사용을 늘리고, 청소년 대상 인식 개선 교육을 운영하는 한편, 지역 주민과 함께하는 캠페인도 여러 차례 개최한 결과  위원회는 이 같은 다방면의 실천을 높이 평가해 재인증을 결정했다.

이번 재인증으로 센터는 청소년들이 공정과 상생의 가치를 몸소 익힐 수 있는 지역 거점으로서 위상을 한층 굳혔다.

센터장은 "소비 하나하나가 지구 반대편 생산자의 삶과 맞닿아 있다는 사실을 청소년들이 직접 느낄 수 있도록 앞으로도 다채로운 프로그램을 이어가겠다"고 말했다.

Unjeong Youth Center Receives First Re-certification as Fair Trade Practice Institution

The Paju Unjeong Youth Center has received its first re-certification as a "Fair Trade Practice Institution" from the Korea Fair Trade Village Committee.

The "Fair Trade Practice Institution" certification is a system in which the Committee reviews and grants certification to institutions, companies, schools, and religious organizations that consistently engage in the purchase and use of fair trade products as well as education and promotional activities.

After first obtaining the certification in May 2024, the Center has dedicated two years to raising awareness of fair trade among youth and the local community. The Committee highly evaluated these multifaceted practices—including increasing the use of fair trade products within the institution, conducting awareness-raising education for youth, and holding several campaigns with local residents—and decided to grant the re-certification.

With this re-certification, the Center has further solidified its status as a regional hub where youth can personally learn the values ​​of fairness and mutual growth.
