더불어민주당 민경선 고양시장 후보가 지역 내 다문화 가족과 이민자들의 목소리를 직접 듣고 정책에 반영하기 위한 현장 행보에 나섰다.

민 후보는 지난 30일 고양시다문화가족지원센터와 이민자통합센터를 잇달아 방문해 간담회를 열고, 다문화 가정과 외국인 주민들이 한국 사회에 정착하는 과정에서 겪는 어려움과 필요한 지원 방안에 대해 의견을 나눴다.

현재 고양시에는 약 2만7천 명의 외국인 주민과 4천여 다문화가정이 거주하고 있다. 

민 후보는 “이제 다문화는 특별한 영역이 아니라 우리 곁의 이웃 이야기이자 고양시의 미래를 함께 만들어가는 시민들의 이야기”라며 “다문화·이민자 가정 역시 지역사회의 중요한 구성원으로서 존중받고 함께 성장할 수 있는 환경을 만들어야 한다”고 강조했다.

이날 간담회에서는 다문화 가족 지원 확대, 아이돌봄 서비스 개선, 이주배경 아동·청소년 교육 지원, 지역사회 참여 기회 보장 등 4대 핵심 과제가 집중적으로 논의됐다.

참석자들은 안정적인 정착을 위한 실질적 지원 확대와 함께 언어·문화적 차이를 고려한 촘촘한 돌봄 체계 구축이 필요하다고 건의했다. 

또한 이주배경 아동과 청소년들이 성장 과정에서 소외되지 않도록 교육 지원을 강화하고, 외국인 주민들이 지역사회 활동에 적극 참여할 수 있도록 제도적 기반을 마련해야 한다는 의견도 제시됐다.

특히 참석자들은 언어와 문화적 차이 속에서도 아이들이 건강하게 성장할 수 있는 보육 환경 조성과 외국인 주민의 지역사회 참여 확대를 위한 정책적 지원의 중요성을 강조했다.
