파주시가 잦은 고장과 부품 단종으로 유지보수에 어려움을 겪어온 노후 불법주정차 단속 시스템을 전면 교체하며 교통질서 확립에 나선다.

파주시는 이달부터 오는 8월까지 총 1억5,860만 원의 예산을 투입해 ‘노후 불법주정차 단속 시스템 교체 사업’을 본격 추진한다고 밝혔다.

그동안 시는 노후화된 단속 장비로 인해 기계 고장이 반복적으로 발생하면서 단속 공백은 물론 유지보수 비용 증가 등의 문제를 겪어왔다.

특히 일부 장비는 부품이 단종돼 수리가 어려운 상황이 이어지면서 안정적인 단속 운영에 차질을 빚어왔다.

이에 따라 시는 수리가 불가능한 노후 장비를 우선 교체해 예산 낭비를 줄이고, 보다 정확하고 신뢰도 높은 단속 체계를 구축한다는 계획이다.

이번 사업을 통해 교체되는 장비는 단속용 폐쇄회로텔레비전(CCTV) 19대, 장애제어관리 장비 17대, 불법주정차 단속 장비 4식 등이다. 

안내전광판과 단속용 카메라 등 주요 시설도 함께 정비해 단속 시스템 전반의 안정성과 운영 효율성을 높일 방침이다.

시는 이번 시스템 개선이 완료되면 노후 장비에 대한 체계적인 관리 기반이 마련돼 단속의 정확성과 신속성이 향상되고, 시민들의 교통 불편도 줄어들 것으로 기대하고 있다.
