고양특례시가 일본 하코다테시와 자매도시 체결 15주년을 기념하며 교육과 청년 정책을 중심으로 한 미래 협력 방안을 논의했다.

이동환 고양특례시장을 단장으로 한 고양시 방문단은 13일(현지시간) 하코다테시청에서 오오이즈미 준 하코다테시장과 공식 면담을 가졌다.

이날 방문단은 하코다테시청 직원들의 도열 환영을 받으며 뜻깊은 일정을 시작했다.

양 도시는 면담에서 자매결연 15주년을 기념하는 기념패를 교환하고, 그동안의 교류 성과를 되짚으며 향후 협력 방향에 대해 의견을 나눴다.

이어 하코다테 시장 주재로 열린 오찬 간담회에는 하코다테시의회 의장, 상공회의소장, 하코다테 관광컨벤션협회장 등 주요 인사들이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다. 

이 자리에서 양측은 행정 분야를 넘어 경제·민간 분야까지 아우르는 폭넓은 의견 교환을 통해 실질적인 협력 네트워크 구축 방안을 논의했다.

이날 면담에 앞서 고양시 방문단은 하코다테의 대표 공립 고등교육기관인 '하코다테 공립미래대학'을 방문해 교육 및 연구 현황을 살폈다.

특히 IT와 미래 기술, 지역 문제 연구 등 고양시 정책 방향과 접점이 많은 분야를 중심으로 양 도시 간 대학 협력과 청년 교류 연계 가능성을 검토했다. 

또한 하코다테 청년들과의 간담회를 통해 지역과 미래에 대한 청년들의 목소리를 직접 청취하는 시간도 가졌다.

이번 간담회는 형식적인 방문을 넘어 청년의 시각을 정책 교류에 반영하기 위한 실질적인 소통의 자리로 마련됐다는 점에서 의미가 크다.

고양시는 앞으로도 자매결연 도시들과의 우호관계를 지속적으로 강화하고 실질적인 정책 교류를 통해 함께 성장하는 국제 협력 모델을 구축해 나갈 계획이다.
