고양특례시는 지난 5일, 올해 시가 추진한 학교 지원사업 운영 현황을 점검하고 교육현장의 의견을 듣기 위해 일산동구 저현고등학교를 방문했다고 밝혔다.

이번 현장 방문에는 이동환 시장을 비롯해 학교장, 교감, 학교운영위원장, 학부모회장 등 학교 관계자와 학부모 10여 명이 참석해 학교 지원사업의 추진 상황과 향후 계획을 함께 공유했다.

참석자들은 먼저 올해 저현고가 참여한 학교 지원 프로그램의 운영 현황을 살펴보고, 자율형 공립고 2.0(자공고) 전환을 위해 학교가 준비 중인 단계별 추진 상황을 점검했다.

이어 열린 간담회에서는 교육환경 개선, 학생 진로·학습 지원, 학교 운영 과정에서 마주하는 현실적 어려움 등 다양한 주제가 논의됐다. 

학부모들은 자공고 전환 준비와 관련해 학교의 추진 상황을 공유받고, 안정적 전환을 위해 학교와 시의 지속적인 협력이 필요하다고 강조했다.

방문단은 또한 고양시가 학교 환경교육 모델 마련을 위해 지원한 ‘학교숲 리모델링’ 공간을 둘러보고, 이곳에서 운영 중인 탄소중립 프로젝트의 진행 과정과 활용 현황에 대한 설명을 들었다. 

시는 해당 프로젝트가 향후 숲 해설가 양성 등 지역 환경교육과 연계될 수 있도록 지원 방향을 모색하기로 했다.

시 관계자는 “교육현장과 직접 소통할 수 있어 뜻깊은 시간이었다”며 “학교·학부모·시가 함께 학생들이 더 나은 환경에서 배울 수 있도록 현장의 의견을 지속적으로 시정에 반영하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 저현고는 올해 자율형 공립고(자공고) 2.0에 선정돼 2026년부터 5년간 운영을 앞두고 있으며, 내년부터 관련 준비 절차를 단계적으로 추진할 계획이다.
