파주시가 운정신도시 내 중·고등학교를 대상으로 진행한 '2025년 하반기 개인형 이동장치(PM) 안전 캠페인'을 성공적으로 마무리했다고 28일 밝혔다.

지난 9월부터 시작된 이번 캠페인은 파주경찰서와 파주녹색어머니연합회가 함께 참여한 가운데 운정신도시 내 중·고등학교 18개교를 순차적으로 방문하며 진행됐다. 

11월부터는 파주교육지원청도 합류해 학생들의 교통안전 의식 향상에 힘을 보탰다.

이번 캠페인에서는 학생들이 반드시 지켜야 할 개인형 이동장치 이용 수칙을 집중 안내했다. 

주요 내용은 ▲무면허 운전 금지 ▲안전모 착용 의무 ▲2인 이상 탑승 금지 ▲보도 주행 금지 등이다.

특히 학생 연령대별로 차별화된 교육을 실시했다. 

중학생에게는 면허 취득이 불가능해 개인형 이동장치를 이용할 수 없다는 점을 명확히 전달했고, 고등학생에게는 「도로교통법」상 원동기장치자전거 면허 이상을 소지해야만 이용할 수 있다는 점을 강조했다.

시 관계자는 "이번 캠페인을 통해 무면허 운전 등 주요 법규 위반 사례를 알림으로써 학생들의 경각심을 높이고, 올바른 이용 문화를 확산시키고자 했다"며 "보행자와 이용자 모두가 안전하고 편리하게 이용할 수 있는 환경을 조성하는 것이 목표"라고 설명했다.

우상완 교통정책과장은 "이번 안전 캠페인이 학생들이 개인형 이동장치 안전 수칙에 관심을 갖고 실천하는 계기가 되길 바란다"며 "내년에는 활동 지역을 확대해 더욱 안전한 교통환경을 조성해 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.

한편, 파주시는 청소년들의 개인형 이동장치 이용이 증가함에 따라 안전사고 예방을 위한 지속적인 홍보와 교육을 강화할 계획이다.
