파주시가 대한민국 지방정부 최초로 공공이 직접 생산한 재생에너지를 지역 중소기업에 공급하는 새로운 에너지 공급 모델을 선보인다.

파주시는 지난 2일 문산정수장 유휴부지에서 '파주 공공재생에너지 1호 발전소' 착공식을 개최하고 본격적인 공사에 돌입했다고 3일 밝혔다.

이날 착공식에는 발전사업자인 파주시와 파주도시관광공사, 전력 공급 중개를 지원하는 SK이노베이션 E&S, 시공사 신성이엔지 관계자들이 참석했다. 

특히 지난 6월 파주시와 직접 전력구매계약(PPA) 참여를 위한 업무협약을 맺은 9개 중소기업(경성산업, 삼성특수브레이크, 선일금고제작, 스페이스톡, 신도산업, 씨앤씨, 칠성, 한울생약, 현진) 대표와 임직원들도 함께 자리해 '파주형 RE100' 모델의 출범을 축하했다.

이번 사업은 총 1,040kW 규모의 태양광 발전소를 건립하는 것으로, 해외 거래 기업들로부터 RE100 충족을 요구받는 중소 수출기업들을 위한 것이다. 

공사는 늦어도 내년 4월까지 완료될 예정이며, 완공 즉시 전력 생산에 들어간다.

파주시와 직접 전력구매계약을 체결한 관내 중소기업들은 발전소 전력 생산 개시 시점부터 30년간 고정가격(160원/kWh)으로 재생에너지를 공급받게 된다 . 

이는 연평균 5% 이상 상승하는 한국전력공사 평균 전력요금과 비교해 경제성이 매우 높은 모델로, 파주시는 이를 통해 지역 중소기업의 RE100 대응력과 수출 경쟁력을 강화한다는 계획이다.
