파주시의회 윤희정 의원이 제260회 정례회에서 야간관광 활성화를 통해 새로운 관광 트렌드를 선도하고 관련 산업을 육성해야 한다고 강조했다.

지난 25일 자치행정위원회에서 원안가결된 '파주시 야간관광 활성화 및 지원에 관한 조례안'은 일몰 이후에도 즐길 수 있는 지역 관광자원을 체계적으로 활용해 파주시만의 특색 있는 관광상품을 발굴·육성하기 위한 제도적 기반을 마련했다는 평가를 받고 있다.

윤희정 의원은 "관광은 지역 경제를 움직이는 핵심 산업인만큼, 다양한 시도를 통해 지속 가능한 산업으로 발전시키길 기대한다"고 밝혔다.

제정된 조례안의 주요 내용을 살펴보면, 야간관광의 개념과 추진 근거를 명확히 하고, 야간관광 활성화 계획 수립 및 프로그램·시설 등 관련 사업 추진 근거를 규정했다.

윤 의원은 최근 '녹투어리즘(Noctourism)'이 관광의 새로운 영역으로 자리잡고 있는 만큼, 파주시가 보유한 야간관광 잠재력을 적극 발굴하고 체계적인 콘텐츠 개발을 통해 관광객을 유치함으로써 '야간관광 명소 도시'로 도약하길 바란다고 밝혔다.

특히 숙박과 식음료, 쇼핑 등 지역 상권과 연계한 체류형 관광체계 구축을 통해 지역 경제 전반에 활력을 불어넣는 효과도 기대했다.
