경기북부보훈지청이 광복 80주년을 기념해 독립유공자 故 안경덕 지사의 유족에게 뒤늦게나마 국가의 예우를 전했다.

12일 경기북부보훈지청에서 열린 포상 전수식에는 안 지사의 자녀와 손자녀 등 유족들이 참석해 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다. 

이번 전수식은 조국의 독립을 위해 헌신한 선열들의 공적을 재조명하고, 그 희생을 기리기 위해 마련됐다.

안경덕 지사는 1919년 4월 3일 수원군 장안면과 우정면 일대에서 독립 만세 시위를 주도한 인물이다. 

당시 안 지사는 시위행진을 이끌며 일제의 식민 통치에 항거했고, 장안면과 우정면 사무소는 물론 화수리 경찰관 주재소를 공격하는 등 적극적인 항일 투쟁을 전개했다.

이러한 활동으로 일제에 체포된 안 지사는 혹독한 옥고를 치렀으며, 해당 공적을 인정받아 정부로부터 대통령표창이 추서됐다.

박용주 경기북부보훈지청장은 "조국의 자주독립을 위해 희생하신 독립유공자의 헌신을 영원히 기억하며, 그 뜻을 이어가고 계신 유족 여러분께 깊은 존경과 감사를 드린다"고 전했다.

그는 이어 "비록 늦었지만 독립유공자분들의 공적이 제대로 인정받고 예우받을 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 덧붙였다.

국가보훈부는 현재까지 포상이 이뤄지지 못한 독립유공자들을 적극 발굴하여 포상하는 데 힘쓰고 있다. 

역사적 자료 조사와 유족 신청 등을 통해 숨겨진 독립운동가들의 공적을 찾아내고 있는 것이다.

국가보훈부 관계자는 "나라를 위해 헌신하신 분들의 숭고한 희생이 제대로 예우받고 국민의 기억 속에 오래 남을 수 있도록 지속적인 노력을 이어가겠다"고 밝혔다.

광복 80주년을 맞아 진행된 이번 포상 전수식은 독립운동의 역사를 되새기고, 선열들의 희생정신을 후대에 계승하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation, the Gyeonggi Northern Veterans Affairs Office belatedly honored the family of the late Governor Ahn Gyeong-deok, a veteran of Korea's independence.

On the 12th, the award ceremony was held at the Gyeonggi Northern Veterans Affairs Office, attended by Governor Ahn's children, grandchildren, and other family members, creating a meaningful moment.

The ceremony was designed to highlight the achievements of our ancestors who dedicated themselves to Korea's independence and commemorate their sacrifices.

Governor Ahn Gyeong-deok led the independence demonstrations in Jangan-myeon and Ujeong-myeon, Suwon County, on April 3, 1919.

At the time, Governor Ahn led protest marches against Japanese colonial rule, attacking the Jangan-myeon and Ujeong-myeon offices as well as the Hwasu-ri police substation, actively engaging in anti-Japanese struggles.

Arrested by the Japanese for these activities, Governor Ahn endured harsh imprisonment and, in recognition of his contributions, was posthumously awarded a Presidential Citation by the government.

Park Yong-ju, head of the Gyeonggi Northern Veterans Affairs Office, stated, "We will forever remember the dedication of the independence activists who sacrificed themselves for our country's independence, and we express our deepest respect and gratitude to the bereaved families who continue to uphold their legacy."

He added, "Although it may be late, we will do our utmost to ensure that the achievements of these independence activists are properly recognized and honored."

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs is actively working to discover and award independence activists who have not yet received awards.

Through historical research and applications from bereaved families, we are uncovering the hidden achievements of these independence activists.

An official from the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs stated, "We will continue our efforts to ensure that the noble sacrifices of those who dedicated themselves to our country are properly honored and long remembered by the people."

This award ceremony, held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of liberation, is expected to serve as an opportunity to reflect on the history of the independence movement and pass on the spirit of sacrifice of our forefathers to future generations.
