파주시가 평화경제특구 유치를 위한 시민 공감대 확산에 나섰다.

파주시는 지난 8일 문산천 노을길에서 '파주 평화경제특구 유치 염원 걷기대회'를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

파주시가 주최하고 파주시민포럼(회장 이성렬)이 주관한 이날 행사에는 김경일 파주시장, 박정 국회의원, 박대성 파주시의회 의장을 비롯해 특구 유치를 염원하는 시민 1,000여 명이 참여했다.

걷기대회는 문산천 둔치에서 개회식을 진행한 후 문산천 노을길 산책로를 따라 약 4.5km 구간을 걷는 코스로 진행됐다. 

가을 정취가 물씬 풍기는 문산천 노을길을 배경으로 남녀노소 다양한 연령층의 시민들이 참여했으며, 가족 단위 참가자들도 많아 화기애애한 분위기 속에서 행사가 펼쳐졌다.

행사장에서는 다양한 체험 프로그램과 예술인들의 특별공연이 진행돼 행사에 활기를 더했다.

김경일 파주시장은 "평화경제특구는 파주시를 100만 자족도시로 이끌 핵심 전략사업이자, 대한민국의 새로운 성장축으로 도약할 수 있는 돌파구"라고 강조했다.

김 시장은 이어 "파주시는 교통이 편리하고 경제자유구역, 메디컬클러스터 조성이 추진되고 있는 등 평화경제특구와 더불어 상승효과를 낼 수 있는 다양한 조건을 갖추고 있다"며 "54만 시민과 함께 반드시 목표를 이루겠다"고 밝혔다.

한편 파주시는 「평화경제특구법」 제정 이후 '평화경제특구 최적지 파주'에 대한 시민 공감대 확산과 참여 확대를 위해 현재 '평화경제특구 유치 시민추진단(2기)'을 모집 중이다.

시는 오는 2026년 1월 '시민추진단 위촉식'과 '파주 평화경제특구 비전선포식'을 개최할 계획이다.

Paju City has launched a campaign to build public consensus on the city's bid for a Peace Economic Zone.

Paju City announced that it held the "Paju Peace Economic Zone Walking Competition" on the Munsancheon Sunset Trail on the 8th.

The city plans to hold the 'Citizens' Promotion Group Appointment Ceremony' and the 'Paju Peace Economic Special Zone Vision Declaration Ceremony' in January 2026.
