설 연휴를 앞두고 고양특례시청 직장운동경기부 역도팀 소속 박혜정 선수가 성금 1,000만 원을 쾌척했다.

고양특례시는 지난 15일 시청 열린 시장실에서 이동환 고양특례시장, 박혜정 선수, 경기사회복지공동모금회 관계자 등이 참여한 가운데 기부금 전달식을 가졌다고 밝혔다.

박혜정 선수가 기부한 성금 1,000만 원은 경기사회복지공동모금회를 통해 관내 저소득층 청소년 장학금으로 쓰일 예정이다.

박혜정 선수는 2024년 개최된 파리 하계올림픽에서 은메달을 획득해 국민적인 관심과 애정을 한 몸에 받았으며 다음 올림픽에서 금메달에 대한 기대감을 한껏 높인 바 있다. 또한 쉼 없는 노력으로 역경을 극복하는 체육인의 상징으로 고양특례시의 대표 아이콘이 됐다.
