파주시는 1월 2일 오전 9시, 파주시 학령산에 위치한 현충탑에서 을사년 새해를 맞이해 신년 참배 행사를 개최했다.

김경일 시장은 신년사를 통해 “지혜와 회복, 성장을 의미하는 푸른 뱀의 해를 맞아 올 한 해, 늘 건강과 희망이 가득하길 기원한다“라며, ”저와 파주시 2천여 공직자는 시민의 삶을 지키고, 지역경제를 되살리는 데 온 힘을 쏟아 평화로운 일상을 되찾고, 성장과 도약의 기회를 만들어가겠다“라고 포부를 전했다.

김 시장은 또 여객기 사고 희생자들을 추모하기 위한 국가 애도기간을 맞아 "파주시 모든 공직자들이 52만파주시민과 함께 애도하며 유가족과 아픔을 나누겠다"라고 말했다.
