파주시는 지난달 29일, 월롱산 숲공원 맨발 산책로 준공식을 개최했다.

이날 기념식에서는 김경일 파주시장을 비롯한 박대성 파주시의회 의장, 안명규 도의원, 월롱면 단체장, 주민 등 100여 명이 참석한 가운데 새롭게 단장한 공원을 둘러보고 산책로를 맨발로 걸어보는 시간을 가졌다. 

2013년 월롱배수지 상부에 조성된 5천 평 규모의 월롱시민공원은 월롱산 등산로와 연결되어 있고 잔디밭과 주차장이 넓어 가족 단위 방문객이 많은 공원이나, 최근 노후화로 인해 포장재 등이 훼손되며 정비가 필요한 상황이었다.

이에 시는 주민 건강증진을 위해 월롱산 숲공원 정비사업을 실시하기로 했다.

시는 340m 길이의 맨발 산책로를 신설하고 노후된 포장재를 친환경적인 코르크와 흙 콘크리트로 재포장했다.

이 밖에 벤치, 그늘막, 세족장 등 이용객 편의시설을 추가로 설치했다.

김경일 파주시장은 “이번에 개장한 월롱시민공원을 끝으로 올해 총 9곳의 맨발산책로가 신설됐다”라며 “파주시는 시민 요구에 발맞춰 누구나 생활권 주변에서 쉽게 즐길 수 있는 맨발 산책로를 조성해나가겠다”라고 말했다.

파주시는 내년에는 맨발 산책로 조성 사업비로 19억 8천만 원을 투입해 공원·녹지, 숲길 등에 맨발 산책로 22개소를 신설 및 정비할 계획이다.[파주=빅정호 기자]
