고양특례시가 2024년 대한민국 도시대상에서 종합평가 우수 지자체로 선정돼‘국무총리상’을 수상했다고 2일 밝혔다.

대한민국 도시대상은 국토교통부에서 매년 전국 229개 지자체를 대상으로 도시의 지속 가능한 균형 발전 및 주민의 쾌적한 삶을 위해 노력한 성과를 평가하는 상이다.

지난 2021년 도시환경 부문 특별상(국토연구원장상), 2022년 도시경제 부문국토교통부 장관상 수상에 이어 3년 연속으로 도시대상을 수상하면서 그동안 고양시민의 삶의 질 향상과 지속 가능한 도시를 만들기 위해 다양한 정책을 펼쳐온 고양특례시의 노력을 인정받았다.

고양특례시는 이번 평가에서 도시사회와 지원체계 부문에서 두드러진 성과를 보였으며, 특히 범죄 예방을 위한 정책인 ▲국토교통부 거점형 스마트시티 조성사업 선정으로 시민 중심의 안전·교통환경 개선 ▲지능형 CCTV 및 통합 관제센터 운영에서 우수한 평가를 받았다.

또한 시민 중심의 교통환경 개선 정책인 ▲교통약자를 위한 저상버스 도입, ▲택시 지원 서비스 등 다양한 정책 및 기후변화 대응 등 친환경 생활환경 제공을 위한 ▲도시 숲 조성 및 공원 확보를 위한 노력에서 높은 점수를 획득했다.

이동환 고양시장은 “전국 229개 지자체 중 우수한 성과를 거둔 지자체에 수여하는 권위 있는 상인 대한민국 도시대상에 고양특례시가 종합평가 우수 지자체로 국무총리상을 수상한 것은 고양시 공직자 및 108만 고양시민의 적극적인 시정 참여가 있었기에 가능했다”라고 밝혔다.
