한편, 이번 연구는 환경학 최고 수준의 권위 있는 학술지인 ‘Science of the Total Environment(IF: 7.963)’에 2021년 9월호에 게재될 예정이다.

Professor Jaeyoon Park's research team at the Department of Renal Internal Medicine, Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital,

Higher exposure to air pollution is 'fatal' for chronic kidney disease patients

Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital Professor Jae-yoon Park and Dr. Ji-yoon Jung recently published a study showing that long-term exposure to air pollution adversely affects the death of chronic kidney disease patients.

Health problems related to air pollution due to industrialization are a global concern, and various studies related to air pollution such as diabetes, malignant diseases, and autoimmune diseases have been reported in this regard.

In addition, severe air pollution is known to increase the severity and risk of death of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases as well as renal function.

To date, there are many research data on the correlation between air pollution and cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, but very few studies have reported the association between fine dust and mortality in chronic kidney disease patients.

Professor Park's research team conducted a joint study with the Department of Renal Internal Medicine at Seoul National University College of Medicine and the Graduate School of Public Health at Seoul National University. Fine dust, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide) and death were found.

Professor Jaeyoon Park said, “According to a recent report, about 7 million deaths occur worldwide every year related to air pollution. Adjustable. It is important to control air pollution factors in order to prevent complications such as death from chronic kidney disease.”

Meanwhile, this research will be published in the September 2021 issue of ‘Science of the Total Environment (IF: 7.963)’, the most prestigious academic journal in environmental science. Goyang = Reporter Lee Dong-seok
