파주시가 증가하는 1인 가구와 소형 가구의 생활환경 변화에 맞춰 일반용 3리터(L)와 재사용 5리터(L) 종량제봉투 판매를 시작했다.

이번 조치는 소량의 생활폐기물을 배출하는 가구가 늘어나는 추세를 반영해 시민들의 편의를 높이기 위해 마련됐다. 

시는 제도 시행에 앞서 지난 2월 「파주시 폐기물 관리에 관한 조례」를 개정하며 신규 규격 종량제봉투 도입을 위한 제도적 기반을 마련했다.

새롭게 도입된 일반용 3리터 종량제봉투는 생활폐기물이 적게 발생하는 1인 가구 등이 쓰레기를 장기간 보관하지 않고 보다 위생적으로 배출할 수 있도록 제작됐다. 

재사용 5리터 종량제봉투는 마트 등에서 장바구니로 활용한 뒤 가정에서는 종량제봉투로 사용할 수 있도록 만들어져 경제성과 자원순환 효과를 동시에 기대할 수 있다.

파주시는 이번 신규 규격 도입을 통해 시민들의 생활방식 변화에 맞춘 맞춤형 폐기물 배출 체계를 구축하고, 생활폐기물 배출 편의를 높이는 것은 물론 생활 속 자원순환 문화 확산에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

신규 종량제봉투는 현재 관내 종량제봉투 판매소에 순차적으로 공급되고 있으며, 아직 비치되지 않은 판매소는 파주도시공사를 통해 주문하면 공급받을 수 있다.

손배찬 파주시장은 "이번 신규 규격 소용량 종량제봉투 판매는 1인 가구 증가에 따른 다양한 생활 수요를 반영하고 시민들이 보다 편리하게 생활폐기물을 배출할 수 있도록 하기 위해 추진했다"며 "앞으로도 시민들의 불편을 세심하게 살피고 생활과 밀접한 행정서비스를 지속적으로 개선해 나가겠다"고 말했다.
